Psychology Undergraduate Subject Pool Information Fall 2009
Subject Pool Administrator email address: subpool@cyrus.psych.uiuc.edu Please register by 5 p.m., Monday, September 21, 2009 to become a Subject Pool participant/member and complete the pretest. When you register, you MUST use your U of I email address; an alternative address will not be accepted. Please enter this carefully, as it’s easy to make a mistake when entering this address, and if there is a mistake, your registration will not be completed. Your password will be sent to your email address within 24 hours or less after you’ve registered. If you have a problem with registration, contact the Subject Pool Administrator IMMEDIATELY. Please read to the end of this web page for the link to register. Reminders: You are responsible for signing up for six (6) hours of studies which you need to complete during the semester. Students in 200-level psychology courses can sign up for 1-3 hours of credits per course. The actual number of credits that are assigned for the 200-level courses are at the discretion of the instructor(s). If you have two (2) No Show’s/Penalties your record will be locked and you cannot sign up for any additional studies. A No Show/Penalty is recorded when you do not cancel 24 hours in advance of the study date/time or do not attend the study – you MUST cancel via the web. Calling or sending an email to the researcher or the Subject Pool Administrator DOES NOT count as a cancellation and a penalty will be recorded Once your record is locked you may attend any studies that you’ve already scheduled but you cannot schedule any additional studies. You MUST keep a record of the study information (date/time/location/number) since you will not be able to look at your record to get this information once your record has been locked. It takes a few weeks at the beginning of the semester for studies to be posted; your instructor will announce in class when you may start signing up for studies. The last day of studies is Thursday, December 10, 2009. Everyone in Psych 100 participates in the Subject Pool as part of their course grade. However, YOU MAY NOT PARTCIPATE IN PSYCHOLOGICAL INVESTIGATIONS UNTIL YOU ARE 18 YEARS OLD. If you will not be 18 years old before October 5, 2009, please register for the Subject Pool and complete the pretest, but you will be contacted by the Subject Pool Coordinator about completing an alternative assignment. Studies are scheduled every day of the week. You MUST schedule studies via the website, attend only the studies that you schedule via the website, and you MUST attend at the date/time that you’ve scheduled – NO EXCEPTIONS. On-line studies require the same sign-up procedures as other studies. You MUST complete the entire on-line study in one sitting; be sure you have enough time (50 minutes for a one hour/one credit study) to complete the study before you begin. If you do not complete the study, a penalty will be recorded. Complete Subject Pool Guidelines are in your Course Guide. Please read the Guidelines so you will know and understand the importance of following the Guidelines. If you have questions after reading this information, please send an email to the Subject Pool Administrator. Use the following link for all Subject Pool functions: |
